At the end of your private country lane sits a timeless estate. Ivy Manor was designed and built by artists with an eye for detail to create a beautiful, unique home that is sophisticated and gracious, comfortable and inviting, casually elegant.

From the custom cabinet work, double helix staircase and barrel ceilings, to the floor layout and placement of windows for an abundance of natural light, much thought and imagination was put into the design of this home. A gracious entry hall leads to the light-filled main living space which has double height ceilings and a custom fireplace with a large Jotul wood stove. This room opens to an overly spacious kitchen, featuring cherry cabinets, granite tops, a large island, double ovens, gas cooktop and a huge walk-in pantry. There are several dining options to choose from: the back dining room offers a tongue and groove barrel ceiling and sunset views, the front dining room enjoys early morning sunrises through the second story palladium windows and the sumptuous front dining porch offers outdoor dining with stunning mountain views.

Ivy Manor balances the open concept with private spaces. The French doors with custom stained glass lead you to a spacious yet cozy library/office that functions equally well for working at home or curling up with a good book. Additionally, a loft with consistent northern light provides the perfect space for an artist to get inspired.

The oversized first-floor master bedroom suite offers a private porch, a barrel ceiling, and palladium windows that allow star gazing from bed before drifting off to sleep. The luxurious spa-like ensuite bath has custom tile work, a large walk-in shower with dual shower heads, a jetted tub, and two vanities transformed from high-end furniture.

The genius of the home’s design is that it embraces one level living yet the second floor can be opened up to provide ample room for family and guests. The front bedroom is ensuite, two additional bedrooms share a hallway full bath and a half bath. Additionally,
the second floor has its own sitting area plus flex space for an exercise room or a second office. This level has its own HVAC system, enabling it to be closed off to reduce energy consumption when not in use.

Also on the first floor is a mud room, laundry room, and half bath. The daylight basement offers a 22x50 open space currently used for dog training but could be repurposed for yoga, exercise, dance, gymnastics or...? The basement also has a dog grooming room with a custom dog bath. Whatever your hobby, this home was designed and built to accommodate it.

The carriage house is off the main house. It holds a two car garage with extra
space for storage or a workshop and a half bath for cleaning up after you work. The second floor contains a 720 square foot, one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, perfect for extended family or use as a rental.

Ivy Manor is nestled to the back of 8.5 acres of pasture but can be purchased with only 6 acres. It is surrounded by woods and enjoys complete privacy and serenity. The outdoors has not been forgotten with the design of this home with over 580 square feet of covered porches, you will find yourself relaxing outdoors all through the year. Imagine drinking your morning tea or coffee from the expansive front porch as you watch the sun rise over the mountain as your horses graze in the far pasture.  A second knoll offers another lovely home site and is the perfect spot for an equestrian barn, clearly visible from the house. Deer, fox, and turkey are often seen in the pasture, enjoying the clover and dining on apples.

This is the first time that Ivy Manor has come on the market. Although its purpose has been to accommodate the whims of two artists, we can envision other uses as well. The size and layout will easily accommodate large families as well as multi-generational families. The original floor plan was designed for a B&B. Many have suggested that Ivy Manor would make a fabulous wedding venue.

Ivy Manor enjoys the aesthetics of a mountain estate yet its location is convenient to all of the wonderful amenities and beauty that Asheville and the surrounding mountains have to offer.  It is located 12 minutes from the shops in Weaverville and only 20 minutes from the fine dining and culture found in downtown Asheville. It is perfectly situated right on the Madison County line, giving you a lower tax base. This is mountain living at its finest, and it is waiting here just for you!

    About Susan

My husband and I have made our home in the peaceful mountains of Western North
Carolina since 1992 where we worked together in the running of our home remodeling
business. Together we have built 4 homes and renovated another as well as renovated
countless homes for clients. I have always taken an active part in the design and
building of these homes. From hanging ridge rafters to laying hardwood floors, I have
gained a great deal of respect and understanding of what goes into a well-built home.
This love of homes and home construction is what led me to become a Real Estate
Broker in 2003 and later a General Contractor. I am also active in canine sports,
competing with my golden retrievers and organizing obedience trials as well as serving
on the board (past treasurer) of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club.  In addition, I
am a stained glass artist and I take much pride and satisfaction in designing and
creating glass art that I often donated to benefit rescues and canine health research.

Since starting my Real Estate Career long ago, I have won many sales awards and
more importantly to me, several Quality Service Awards. For several years I was Broker
in Charge of a small office, managing 9 other agents. Feeling the need to get back to
what I love about real estate, I stepped down as the managing broker in 2017 so I could
    concentrate on
my clients and their needs as a Broker Associate. I am now working
with Sterling Real Estate Partners because of their creativity, marketing technology,
customer service and their stellar reputation in the Asheville and surrounding markets.

I specialize in Residential Homes, Small Farms and Land Tracks with a special passion
for Vintage Homes. When marketing a Vintage home, or helping a buyer with a
purchase of one, you can expect a full essay on the "genealogy" of your home. One of
my many obsessions is tracking the history of Asheville's older homes. My years
working as a carpenters assistant as well as my beginnings in the marketing field will be
used to your benefit when you are selling or buying a home. Of course for dog owners,
my 20+ years of training and competing with my own dogs has given me an
understanding that often a fenced yard for Puppy is not enough. Sometimes we need a
bit more. For both sellers and buyers I recognize the unique needs that many of us
have for ourselves and with our homes.
